The popular Seamer pub we know today as The Copper Horse hasn’t always been known by that name.
The Copper Horse was originally a farmhouse dating back to the 17th century. It became a pub in the 1930s and was called The White Horse, after the name of the lane running alongside it. When the pub was bought by England Rugby International and Scarborough bookmaker, Leonard Price Stephens it was re-named The Copper Horse, after a racehorse from some years earlier.
Since May 2005 The Copper Horse has been owned and run by the Thomas family. Little has changed in the actual structure of The Copper Horse but the interior decoration has undergone a transformation creating an interesting and cosy dining experience. The walls and ceilings are covered in theatre memorabilia of stage and screen dating back to the 1950s, creating an unforgettable and unique dining environment.
